Matthew 19:6 “So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let not man put ASSUNDER.”
Don’t be so ‘enemies’ conscious. Sometimes, we are the ones working against the success of our marriage.
Jesus said ‘let NO MAN put assunder’ (Mark 10.9) including those involved; the husband and the wife.
Harsh words, complacency, suspicion, disrespect, arguments and quarrellings, malice, bitterness, flirting, discontentment, etc, are examples of axes under many marital trees.
The enemy is sometimes within (us) and Jesus warns us to not put assunder, for God joined us together.
That warning is said only on wedding days. We would do well to remember it every other day.
We need to realize that our coming together was God’s design. The bible says ‘what God has joined together’. God Himself joins the couple together in holy matrimony. He made the two, one flesh.
Our marriage was not our idea, as strange as that sounds. It was a divine set up, it was literally, beyond us.
When you consciously or unconsciously fight the success of your marriage, you’re not fighting your spouse; you’re fighting the One who ordained your marriage.
If you’ve been putting an axe under your marital tree, ask the Lord to help you stop. Pray for Him to help you cut off all such extensions no matter what or who it is. Then make up your mind to be a pruning shear, rather than an axe in your marriage.
