It’s the story of Jesus attending a wedding. It was the point at which the wine was exhausted and the ‘event planners’ of the day were worried sick. This is about to be one event gone wrong.
Somehow, Mary gets wind of the problem, gathers the event managers together and tells them a simple secret…meet him, listen to what He says and do exactly that.
They approach the Master, He directs them to the pots of water at the entrance and says, scoop a cup and serve to the Master of Ceremony.
Now, the pots of water at the entrance were meant for the Jewish traditional purification. Jews washed before prayer, entering a house or when they had entered. They washed ceremonially, not necessarily to get physically clean. For this reason, I think that the water in the pots would have been 10 times dirty because every hand gets dipped in it and some of the washed off water would go right back into the pot and this, my friend, was for every guest.
I hope by now, you have a picture of what kind of water was in those pots; very far from clean.
Jesus told them to fill the pots to the brim, then take a cup from there, to the Master of the banquet. Shaking in their boots, they did and it turned out to be the best wine the ceremony offered. (SR: John 2)
Does that resonate with you? Do you feel like the wine in your marriage is completely exhausted? Or that all you have left is nothing close to wine; dirty, dish water?
He says “come unto Me all the that labour and I will give you rest”. Submit that wineless, dirty-water situation in your marriage to Him and when you do, remember the secret; listen to what He says and do exactly that.
Your testimony awaits you.
