Don’t get it twisted. Love is not sex and sex is not love.
Men and women respond differently to sex and females are most likely to get confused about the two.
Sex in marriage and sex outside marriage are very different. That he relates with you sexually is not a sign that he loves you. This is not to say that he may not love you but sex, as is, is not an expression of love. At the stage of courtship it is hardly anything more than exercise. It is emotional and physical exercise and does not necessarily work to bond the two involved (if anything it pulls them apart). More importantly, sex outside marriage, like any other sin (but more grievously), gradually works at reducing the character of the human spirit until it is deformed.
When God tells us not to do things like that, the truth is that it’s really not because of Him. Sin doesn’t touch God or affect Him like people think. It did before but that’s why Jesus had to die for our sins. Today, it no longer does. So why does He insist that we not do these things? It’s because of us. God knows what sin does to us. How Satan capitalizes on it to draw us back, keep us in guilt and bondage and blur our vision of the future. Being our loving Father, He gives us His word, to help us trash out any baggage from our lives and live free to be all that He destined us to be.
He says in His word, 1 John 2:1 ‘My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And IF any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous’.
We ignore the first part of that scripture a lot but it says ‘SIN NOT’. That’s the first and most important. It will do us a great good if we just ran with that one and behaved like the rest of the scripture weren’t there. Imagine what life would look like if there were no forgiveness of sins from God. We would cut all our strings and burn our bridges to ensure we don’t go back to the things we have left.
But God knows that we may fall and stand and fall again and stand and maybe fall again, that’s why He made provision for us, but then again, notice the scriptures above says ‘if any man sin’ not ‘when’. It means that even God doesn’t expect us to make a habit of sin simply because there’s grace and forgiveness.
You can live above sin for the bible says it will not dominate us, rather we reign in righteousness through Christ Jesus.
Why not start by repenting of those things and asking God to help you, by His Spirit, to stand.
Receive strength to live for, through and by God today.
